Everyday Resilience – Arjen kestävyys

A twelve-month project in Helsinki, February 2027 – January 2028. Ukrainians who now live in Finland share what they learned about getting through long power cuts, cold homes and water outages. A preparedness expert checks this know-how against official Finnish guidance. Ukrainian residents then present it to Finnish neighbourhoods in dialogue seminars, and it is published in a free bilingual Finnish–Ukrainian booklet.

What the project will produce

  • Conversations with 24–30 Ukrainians living in Finland, in story circles and interviews.
  • A free bilingual Finnish–Ukrainian booklet of about 48 pages, openly licensed (CC BY), with 300 printed copies for libraries, neighbourhood associations and community groups.
  • Six dialogue seminars in Helsinki, one of them online and open to participants across Finland.

Principles

  • Voluntary and free of charge for participants, with written informed consent in their own language.
  • A trauma-informed approach: the focus is on what helped, and anyone may skip a question or stop at any time.
  • Personal data is protected under the GDPR, and identifying details are removed from the booklet.
  • Civilian content only: no information on military matters or on the location or security weaknesses of infrastructure.
  • Non-partisan and non-commercial: nothing is sold, and participants are not referred to paid services.

Status

The plan, budget and ethical safeguards are ready, and we are seeking funding. The project starts only if funding is secured. Nothing is confirmed yet. See Funding and transparency.
